Denny Hamlin Finishes Fourth in the Southern 500

DARLINGTON, SC (Sept. 6, 2016)

Post-Race Highlights

  • Denny Hamlin returned to the famed Darlington Raceway over Labor Day weekend in the No. 11 Sport Clips Toyota Camry “Throwback Edition”, inspired by the No. 11 car driven by NASCAR Hall-of-Famer Darrell Waltrip in the 1980’s, and came up just short of taming the “Lady in Black”. Due to inclement weather in the area caused by Hurricane Hermine, NASCAR officials cancelled all track activity on Friday, including qualifying, and set the 40-car field according to the NASCAR rule book, placing Hamlin in seventh for the start of the Bojangles’ Southern 500.

  • DOMINATION AT DARLINGTON: Denny Hamlin will make his second and final NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) start of the 2016 season this weekend in the VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200 at Darlington Raceway in the No. 18 Sport Clips Toyota Camry “Throwback Edition". The special scheme, inspired by the No. 11 car driven by NASCAR Hall-of-Famer Darrell Waltrip in the 1980’s, will also be aboard Hamlin’s No. 11 Sport Clips Camry in the Southern 500 on Sunday. Hamlin is no stranger to success at “The Lady in Black”, having led all but 30 laps in last year’s NXS event on his way to claiming his fourth series victory at the oval track.

Bojangles' Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway

  • TOO TOUGH TO TAME – OR IS IT?: Denny Hamlin returns to the famed Darlington Raceway for a Labor Day weekend full of action-packed racing.  Hamlin will pilot the No. 11 Sport Clips Toyota Camry “Throwback Edition” during Sunday’s Bojangles' Southern 500. The special scheme, inspired by the No. 11 car driven by NASCAR Hall-of-Famer Darrell Waltrip in the 1980’s, will also be aboard Hamlin’s Sport Clips Camry in the XFINITY Series race on Saturday. The “Lady in Black” has been good to Hamlin throughout his 10-career Sprint Cup Series starts, claiming one win in 2010, as well as four wins in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. In last year’s caution-filled Southern 500, Hamlin led three times, for a total of 57 laps before settling for a third-place finish.

Erik Jones Earns Second-Place Finish in Rain-Shortened Pocono Green 250 at Pocono Raceway

For the inaugural NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) race at Pocono Raceway, Erik Jones and the No. 20 Sport Clips Toyota Camry team notched their fifth pole of the season and third straight pole. Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) swept the top-three qualifying positions for the Pocono Green 250.

Denny Hamlin Battles Hard, Finishes Third at Auto Club Speedway

FONTANA, Calif. (Mar. 21, 2016)

Post-Race Highlights: After starting the 2016 season off with a huge victory at the historic Daytona 500, Hamlin and the No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing team made their final stop on the "West Coast Swing" at Auto Club Speedway with the Sport Clips Toyota Camry. Hamlin set the track record in round two of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying on Friday afternoon and claimed a third-place starting position for Sunday’s 200-lap race.
