- HAMLIN AT CHARLOTTE ROVAL: Denny Hamlin owns one top-five finish and four top-15s in six starts on the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL. His best result was a fifth-place run in 2021 after leading 25 laps. Last season, Hamlin finished 37th at the ROVAL after being involved in an accident during the final segment. Prior to his misfortune, Hamlin started ninth and scored eight stage points for finishing third in stage two. The former Coca-Cola 600 winner finished fifth when the Cup Series raced on Charlotte’s 1.5-mile quad-oval layout earlier this year.
- TALLADEGA RECAP: Hamlin earned his third consecutive top-10 finish with a 10th-place result in last weekend’s race at Talladega Superspeedway. It marked the ninth consecutive year Hamlin has finished in the top 10 in the fall Talladega race.
- PLAYOFF HISTORY: This season marks Hamlin’s 18th appearance in the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs giving him the most appearances since the postseason format began in 2004. Over the course of his career, Hamlin has finished in the top five in points nine times, including the past five seasons working with crew chief Chris Gabehart.
- SPORT CLIPS: Sport Clips will be featured as the primary sponsor for Hamlin this weekend at the Charlotte ROVAL. The sports-themed haircutting franchise based in Georgetown, Texas is a longtime supporter of Joe Gibbs Racing dating back to 2009 and has nearly 1,900 stores in the United States and Canada. How do you approach this weekend’s race at the ROVAL?
“We need to go there and have a solid day. We have a little gap, but we cannot be complacent or sloppy because that gap can disappear very quickly. I feel like the track is set up for chaos. I think that they were very strategic with the changes, making sure to put us in a decision of what might be fast. The normal racing line will be fast, but there will be an option to short cut the entry to (turn) seven and just wipe out whoever’s in front of you. Whatever reason would we have changed it, other than to create more chaos and things like that. And I certainly think it’ll be that way.”
