VFW, Sport Clips Haircuts Surpass $6.4 Million in Scholarships for Veterans

Nearly $762,000 awarded to 165 student veterans for the fall semester

KANSAS CITY, MO (Aug. 20, 2019)

Together with longtime supporter Sport Clips Haircuts, the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. is proud to announce its “Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship” program has surpassed awarding $6.4 million in scholarships to more than 1,450 military and student veterans. The latest fall semester award of nearly $762,000 will help to ensure 165 student veterans attending colleges across the country are one step closer to achieving their educational goals.

Sport Clips Haircuts Commits Another $1 Million to Childhood Cancer Research Through Continued Partnership with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation

LOS ANGELES (Feb. 21, 2019)

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation, the largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants, is proud to announce that Sport Clips Haircuts has recommitted their efforts to conquer childhood cancers and will donate another $1 million to St. Baldrick’s over the next three years. In 2016, Sport Clips Haircuts signed on as a St. Baldrick’s national partner and has since generously donated $1.1 million to support the most promising childhood cancer research.

The latest award of more than $768,000 will now help ensure 172 student veterans can continue their higher education classes this upcoming spring semester.

Sport Clips Haircuts just donated $1.35 million to the VFW… And it means even more veterans can go back to school using Help A Hero Scholarships

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Dec. 10, 2018)

At the national headquarters of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S., the Vietnam War veteran who founded Sport Clips Haircuts handed over a check for $1.35 million to the VFW Foundation today in order to support Help A Hero Scholarships for active-duty U.S. service members and veterans. Sport Clips began fundraising in October with the goal to exceed the $1.25 million raised last year for the program. By Veterans Day, November 11, Sport Clips, along with its clients, team members and product partners, raised the money for the largest donation in its 11-year history of supporting those who've served through the Help A Hero initiative.

Goal-shattering $1.25 million donated by Sport Clips Haircuts to VFW for Help A Hero Scholarships

GEORGETOWN, Texas (Dec. 11, 2017)

Today Sport Clips Haircuts donated $1.25 million to the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. Foundation to support active-duty U.S. service members’ and veterans’ scholarships through the Help A Hero program. This year's fundraising target was shattered when Sport Clips’ clients and product partner donations exceeded the original $1 million goal, and Sport Clips made its own Veterans Day contributions of $1 per haircut service. Help A Hero began as an initiative between Sport Clips and the VFW to provide phone calls home for deployed and hospitalized service members and veterans. The initiative then transitioned in 2013 to the VFW’s “Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship” program. To date, more than 900 VFW-administered scholarships have been awarded to qualified, active-duty military and veterans who wish to pursue college degrees and vocational certifications.
