GEORGETOWN, Texas (Jun. 17, 2015)
Sport Clips Haircuts, the nation’s leading men’s and boys’ hair care franchise, has signed on to sponsor driver Dominic Dobson in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) on June 28 in Colorado Springs, Colo. Competing in the “Race to the Clouds” will be a career-first for the seven-time Indy 500 driver and former IndyCar Series Rookie of the Year, who has also competed in the LeMans 24Hr, Daytona 24Hr, Sebring 12Hr, and Baja 1000 Off-Road race, and has plans to race in Bonneville in 2016.
“Sport Clips is a proud supporter of motorsports, including NASCAR and motocross, so when we were presented with the opportunity to partner with such a skilled road racing driver as Dominic for this historic race – a sponsorship first for Sport Clips - we knew we wanted to join him in the ‘climb’,” says Sport Clips CEO and Founder Gordon Logan. “We look forward to seeing Dominic behind the wheel of the GoProMotorsports.com Radical SR8 and will be cheering him on as he competes to be ‘King of the Mountain’!”
PPIHC is one of the most prestigious professional road racing events in the U.S. and is also the second oldest motorsports event in the country. Races on the 12.42 mile course begin at 9,390 feet above sea-level and finish at the 14,115-foot summit. According to the PPIHC website, as drivers climb toward the summit’s peak, being in top condition, for both the drivers and their vehicles, becomes crucial to finishing, as the thin air impacts reflexes and engine performance.
“Competing in this race has been a dream for me ever since I first watched it a few years back with friends who fielded the Ducati motorcycle team. I was so impressed and decided I’d be there someday,” says Dobson. “Thanks to Sport Clips and my other sponsors, the dream has become a reality.”
