LAS VEGAS, Nevada (May 11, 2015)
Sport Clips Haircuts, the nation’s leading men’s and boys’ hair care franchise, had much to celebrate at its recent “Game Changer”- themed National Huddle. Twenty years in franchising, same store sales increases of 8 percent, and the opening of 154 stores last year were just part of the positive news shared by Founder and CEO Gordon Logan and President Mark Kartarik. Additional franchise highlights included:
- Sport Clips will soon open in its 50th U.S. state – Maine. Only one store closed in 2014, bringing the total closed since 2010 to only four… a rarity in franchised businesses.
- Sport Clips expects to open 170 franchises and company-owned stores in 2015. These franchises offer small business ownership opportunities and create jobs in communities across the country. Currently, more than 14,000 are employed at independently owned-and-operated Sport Clips.
- New television spots that reflect how a Sport Clips haircut helps provide the edge needed to ‘win your game’ were unveiled and will begin running in this month.
- Sport Clips’ first-ever Artistic Team entertained attendees with their haircutting skills. The purpose of the newly-established team, which is comprised of six Sport Clips coaches, will be to spread awareness of the brand among future haircare professionals.
- Sport Clips is a long-time supporter of the military and welcomed Veterans of Foreign Wars Commander-in-Chief John Stroud and Dakota Meyer, a Medal of Honor recipient and best-selling author, as guest speakers. Both were on stage for the company’s presentation for its Help A Hero program. Since its establishment in 2013, the VFW’s “Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship” program has provided 207 veterans and service members’ financial support to further their post-military education and career goals. Through its annual Help A Hero fundraising campaign in the fall of 2014, Sport Clips team members, clients, and partners gave more than $712,000 to sponsor the VFW-administered scholarships.
“We developed Sport Clips with the intention of franchising to build on our 15 years of experience as both a franchisee and a franchisor. Twenty years later, it’s incredibly rewarding for my wife, Bettye, our son, Gordon Edward, and his wife, Christy, to see Sport Clips as a successful investment for so many other families and a great place to work for thousands of salon professionals,” Logan says. “We are committed to providing superior support and training for franchisees and team members, which is reflected in the fact that only four stores have closed since 2010. We continually strive to enhance the Sport Clips ‘MVP Experience’ for our clients, our franchisees and for our Team Members.”
More than 2,400 convention attendees gathered from around the country in Las Vegas to celebrate successes and plan for the future. Next year’s National Huddle will be held in San Antonio, Texas.
