How to make guys' haircut trends holiday-ready

GEORGETOWN, Texas

In the world of men’s hair, 2022 has been a year of nostalgia. With influences ranging from Miles Tucker’s iconic look in the movie "Top Gun: Maverick" to all the 90s undertones in fashion, it’s hard not to notice today’s hairstyles are all about putting a new, modern stamp on yesterday's classics. To help Clients navigate these styles, three Sport Clips Haircuts National Artistic Team members from around the country shared insights on how to make these trends holiday-ready. Here's what Dorothy-Anne Lacy of Sun City, Arizona, Brittany Burton of Carrollton, Texas, and Alexa Fernandez of Melbourne, Florida have to say:

“Right now, the hot trend is longer lengths on top,” says Burton. “This one is similar to the styles we saw in 90s boy bands, but with shorter sides.”

“Full, long hair is also in right now,” Fernandez added. “As much as I love a clean fade, I do notice more people growing their hair out and looking for styles that offer more fullness. Not to mention the notorious comeback of different styles and variations of the mullet.”

For these looks and more, here are some tips for styling your hair this holiday:

Keep hair healthy

- Remember to utilize a quality shampoo and conditioner to keep hair looking healthy for holiday get-togethers. Burton loves Mitch Double Hitter 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner, which cleanses and conditions in one easy step. She also recommends Mitch Barber's Classic Pomade to keep any style looking strong.

Balance length for a well-groomed look

- For longer hair, use the blow dryer and apply styling products to give shape and the appearance of fullness. Lacy uses Sexy Hair Frenzy for added texture and thickness.

Embrace natural curls

- Use a moisturizing conditioner and leave-in moisturizer to tame natural curls. Fernandez recommends Lavender Mint Moisturizing Conditioner™ and Tea Tree Hair & Body Moisturizer by Paul Mitchellto keep curls looking lush all day long.

Trade secrets for travelers

- Don’t let that look lose luster while traveling; stay fresh with Firm Hold Styling Gel by American Crew. Lacy recommends this product for its low pH formula that holds strong while also preventing scalp dryness. She also likes MVRCK by Mitch Dry Paste and says it has a classic scent and holds well.

Festive facial hair

- Mustaches have never been more popular, so give them the love they need with Mvrck by Mitch Cooling Aftershave. Lacy loves the citrus, agave, cedar and sandalwood scent and the way it helps skin stay smooth and hydrated.

- For beards with a bit more length, consider a fade to a goatee. This look is great for guys who have a fuller face and want a sleeker beard profile. For looks like this, Fernandez recommends MVRCK by Mitch’s classic beard oil.
