GEORGETOWN, Texas
Fred Brent, longtime superintendent of the Georgetown Independent School District, has retired from his respected academic career and chosen a new field of endeavor with Sport Clips Haircuts. Brent will serve as chief of staff in which he will work with the leadership team to manage internal operating systems and community connectedness.
“For 30 years, my wife, Terri and I have served public education. In 2014 we moved to Georgetown, as a superintendent and counselor, with the hope that our three children would have a town they could call home,” says Brent. “Since that time, we have fallen in love with Georgetown... it is home. With our youngest child graduating high school, one of our sons in college and one a college graduate, I've always known that someday I would retire from public education. So, after a long process, Terri and I have decided to retire from Georgetown ISD. However, my retirement comes with a new opportunity to serve the incredible team at Sport Clips.”
Brent says his reason for joining Georgetown-based franchise Sport Clips lies in his respect for what founder Gordon Logan and his family have been able to build in his home community – an international business that gives back locally and nationally. “I've known the Logan family since my arrival in Georgetown and quickly grew to respect their commitment to the Sport Clips team,” Brent says. “Their core values identified by the company’s ‘Heart of a Champion’ are to ‘Do what's Right, Do your Best, Treat others the way They want to be treated.’ This really resonates with my own beliefs and leadership mission. Sport Clips is one of the top franchise companies and CEO and President Edward Logan, has inspired me throughout this transition process. I'm excited to stay here in Georgetown and join his team.”
Sport Clips Founder and Chairman Gordon Logan recognizes Brent’s leadership noting his oversight of the Georgetown ISD in establishing its strategic direction. “Fred will bring a depth of organizational knowledge to our already strong leadership team at Sport Clips,” Logan says. “His success in academics will translate well into the role Sport Clips plays in providing top-line education to team members, scholarship opportunities for veterans and aspiring stylists, and in the training and systems franchises employ to stay at the forefront of the industry. He’s an outstanding individual and we welcome him as a revered member of the Georgetown community.”
Brent is a graduate of Oklahoma City University and completed graduate work at Lamar University and his doctorate in Education Leadership and Human Resource Development at Texas A&M University.
