Julie Vargas, vice president of career opportunities and talent engagement, has been recognized as a 2024 Women in Business nominee, an awards program presented by the Austin Business Journal honoring Central Texas’ most influential businesswomen.
Select professionals from Central Texas were named winners and finalists of the awards program held on August 27, 2024, at the JW Marriott in Austin. Winners and Finalists were chosen from nominations from the business community. To be eligible, nominees must be female residents that are employed in the following Central Texas counties: Travis, Williamson, Hays, Bastrop and Caldwell.
A panel of judges, comprised of Women in Business alumnae and community leaders, judged on career advancement, present company success, business leadership and community involvement. Distinctions included community involvement balanced with business and personal success. Various qualifying questions in the nomination process included career growth, leadership & mentorship, volunteering & community engagement.
This year, in addition to the 10 winners, the Austin Business Journal honored 25 more women as finalists and one rising star for its 30th annual Women in Business Awards.
“Julie was the first Stylist and Manager hired to work at the very first Sport Clips before we even opened location number one in Austin in 1993,” said Edward Logan, CEO and president of Sport Clips. “I don’t think she thought she would still be working here 31 years later, but we are grateful she is. Julie is a true champion of our brand and has served as a strong example to countless Stylists and Team Members who have built careers with Sport Clips over the last three decades. Her career growth has been remarkable, I am grateful for all she has done to make Sport Clips what it is, and she is more than deserving to be recognized by the Austin Business Journal.”
